Original Porcelain figure designed by Hugo Meisel, signed, numbered and with fox mark 1906 - 1926, model number 1SS
This rare figure is from his early period and part of the series of 4 Blackamoor Nubian Food Servants figures and typical from the Art Nouveau and Orientalism period
Hugo Meisel was later appointed at Rosenthal (from 1936 to 1937) and was master of the porcelain figures there.
He also designed a series of similar blackamoor figures for Rosenthal
This very lifelike African / Moor with turban and oriental clothing carries a fish dish and a water or wine jug and has beautiful hand-painted polychrome colors.
High-gloss glazed with gold highlights
On the outside on the pedestal he is signed H. Meisel. and on the bottom a printed stamp with the mention of Schwarzburger Werkstaetten fuer Porzellankunst, the fox sign and model number 1SS
This figurine is in a mint condition, no breakage, damage or restorations.
