Set of 2 Stoneware Salt Glazed Britisch Rum (108.6 Proof) Flagons, Jugs, Pitchers.
Stamped on the bottom with Pearson & Co Chesterfield, uit Whittington Moor, Chesterfield, Engeland 1944
On the neck of one jar is impressed the letters S.R.D: These stood for ‘ Supply Reserve Depot’ but were often said to represent ‘Seldom Reaches Destination’ or ‘Soon runs Dry’.
Used often before an offensive, the army command dit serve rum to the soldiers.
Also known as “Navy Grog” and served daily to the enlisted sailors of the Britisch Royal Navy
These 2 jugs are dated 1944 used during WWII
Both jugs in a very good condition and features a rich, earthy glaze. Very decorative pieces, showcases classic craftsmanship from the 19th century
