Antique 18th Century Dutch red copper Samovar Coffee Tea Hot Water Urn "kraantjeskan"

Preloader

This beautiful red copper jug/tap jug/samovar is made with a dovetail joint, has two cast brass handles with cups on them and three messing taps with openwork closures with chains connected to the taps.
Standing on three S-shaped cast brass legs ending in claw feet.
The loose red copper lid has a beautifully carved wooden knob.  Wood could not conduct heat so the lid could be removed without any problems. Such a wooden knob is rare and a beautiful example of a Dutch tap jug from around 1760-1790.

This jug had to be placed in the middle of the table, everyone sitting around could use the tap jug in this way.  See also the last photo of a painting depicting a tap jug with coffee or tea cups underneath.

Condition: beautiful patina with normal traces of use. 1 of the handles is slightly bent and has some scratches on the handle (see photos)

Height: 44.5 cm
Width with ears: 30 cm
Diameter jug: 22 cm.
Weight: 2,000 grams.
