Set of 6 Antique Renaissance Revival carved Oak with Grapes Castle Dining Chairs, Black Forest 19th Century
Description
- Incredible Set of 6 Antique Renaissance Revivial Castle Dining Chairs in solid oak providing a charming Old World look, circa early 19th Century
- Carved by hand by a master carver with superb attention to detail, which includes a carved backsplat with rosette in the middle, the crown of the seatback is carved with grape vines and leaves.
- The plinths of the chairs are adorned with a shell decor, barley twisted legs and cross stretchers
- The seats are upholstered in their original hand crafted needlepoint embroidery futering animals like a squirrel, bird of Paradise, a cock, griffin, a dragon and an eagle
- The straps of the chairs are reinforced with extra straps for more strength because the original straps needs to be replaced. If you want to use the chairs daily I would recommend that.
- The set is a treat to look at, very decorative and a great conversation piece. Would look great in an antique castle style house.
- These chairs are probably German or French made from the Black Forest aerea, around first half of 1800
